A delicious thin wrapper wonton using chicken stock filled ground pork filling, with chili oil for the spicy flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 lb thin wonton wrapper (usually with 80-90 wrappers in a 1 lb pack, available in most Chinese grocery stores)
- 1 lb ground pork
- 2 green onion
- A pinch of salt
- 3 tablespoon corn starch
- 6 cups chicken stock
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
cooking Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4 (with leftover for 8)
Tip: Store the leftovers in plastic boxes and seal, put to freezer for long period of time. Plastic container has the advantage of not sticking to the wonton.
Cooking Steps
1. Cover and boil 1 pot of water (6 cups), 1 pot of chicken stock (6 cups), while waiting, prepare the filling and make the wonton, if the water or soup is boiling, turn heat to low.
2. Prepare the pork filling
3. Take one wrapper at a time.
Add 1 teaspoon pork filling in the center of the wrapper.
Use fingertip to touch some water from a bowl, draw a circle in the wrapper.
4. Fold the wrapper in half, seal the edges firmly.
5. Once the pot of water is boiling, add 24 wonton to the pot, boil for 2-3 minutes or until all the wontons are floating (which means they are almost fully cooked), turn heat to low, cover to simmer for another 1-2 minutes to let the wrapper become a little bit softer.
Note: cook around 20 wonton each time, otherwise, it will take too long to cook the wonton.
Serve in batches.
6. Prepare 4 medium bowls, add 1 cup chicken stock to each bowl, take the 24 wontons out of the water pot, divide evenly among the 4 bowls.
7. Add fine chopped green onion, chili oil and a pinch of salt to taste. Serve fresh.
