- 1 green onion
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4
Cooking Steps
1. Buy dry or wet seaweed from Chinese grocery store. For dry seaweed, submerge into water for 5 minutes or longer. Note that the dry seaweed will be 10 times heavier after absorbing lots of water, try to start with small portion of dry seaweed. Prepare 1/4 lb. wet seaweed.
2. Clean the seaweed, boil a pot of water, boil the seaweed, then cover and simmer to make it tender for 20-30 minutes.
Tip:
Depending on the varieties of the seaweed, the simmering time varies. Taste a small sample to make sure it is soft and tender for your own taste.
3. Take the cooked seaweed out and let it cool down. Cut the seaweed into desired shapes (thin slices, squares, etc.), put to a large mixing bowl or plate.
4. Prepare 1 fine chopped green onion, 1 cloves of minced garlic, add to the seaweed.
5. Add 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1/4 teaspoon sugar, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, add a few drops of sesame oil and 1 teaspoon vinegar (Chinese black vinegar is preferred), sprinkle 1 teaspoon sesame seeds and a pinch of black pepper, mix all ingredients evenly.
