Steamed Buns with Red Bean Paste (豆沙包) |
A very traditional Chinese steamed bun with red bean paste filling, great for breakfast and snack.
Red bean paste can be found in most Chinese grocery stores. It might have 2 types: coarse and fine, depending how fine the bean is ground.
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1 table spoon dry yeast
- 3 cups of general purpose flour
- 1 pack (1 lb) red bean paste (may have leftover) available in most Chinese grocery store
Servings: 12 buns
Cooking Steps
1. See Quick and Easy Dough for Chinese Pastry for how to make the bun wrappers.
2. Add 1 tablespoon red bean paste in the center of wrapper, wrap it by folding the edges and seal the edges firmly. See Steamed Buns with Dry Pork Meat as example of how to make the buns and put to steamer properly.
3. Steam the buns for 10 minutes.
