Bell Pepper Box with Ground Pork Filling (青椒盒子)


A fun bell pepper recipe with the ground pork filling.


Ingredients
  • 4 bell peppers
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1/4 lb shrimp
  • 2 green onion
  • A pinch of salt and sugar
  • 2 tablespoon corn starch
  • 3 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoon sugar.

Cooking Steps

Prepare the ground pork filling

1. Add 1/4 cup of water (or use chicken stock) to 1 lb ground pork, add fine chopped 1/4 lb clean shrimp meat. Add 2 fine chopped green onion, 1 teaspoon salt, a pinch of sugar, 2 tablespoon corn starch, mix all ingredients evenly.
2. Clean 4 bell peppers, cut the stem, cut the pepper into 4 pieces.
3. Divide the ground pork filling into 16 portions, fill the 16 pepper pieces with the pork filling.
4. Heat a wok with 2 tablespoon vegetable oil, put the bell pepper with pork filling to the oil, turn heat to medium, cover the wok.

5. Let the bell pepper cook for 3-5 minutes, turn to cook other sides to become roasted and soft. Be careful not let the meat slip out of the pepper.

6. Add 3 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 tablespoon sugar, mix evenly and gently, cover the wok, let the bell pepper and meat simmer for 5-10 minutes. Use a spoon to scoop the sauces on top of the meat for a couple of times to let the flavor penetrate the meat.



7. Place the pepper boxes on a large plate, pour the sauces evenly on top of the meat and pepper.
